Site Tech

by

Over the years this website has taken many forms. Of course as a techie I went through the phase of writing my own CMS before decided it was a nightmare and best left to those more motivated.

It spent many years as a Drupal site back when it was on versions 4 through 6, I think. Then WordPress came along and provided a better experience from a site maintainer point of view with things like being able to update to a new version without FTPing files all over the shop.

WordPress was great for a while, but after a couple of security incidents and increases in hosting costs I decided to simplify things and switch to a static site. It's now managed in Publii which publishes static HTML pages which are hosted on Netlify.

It's all now far simpler and much more appropriate for a simple blog.
